KXKM has been commissioned to create a work of art and a process targeted to reach the people that are not necessarily represented in the way Elsinore traditionally perceives itself.

KompleXKapharnüM (KXKM) will be in charge of the grande finale of Hjemstavn.com, in a comprehensive co-production involving several of the companies and artists, which have been performing during the project.

KXKM has in recent years become recognized for being one of the most outstanding street theatre companies in France. Their expressionist way of communicating is inspired by street-, office-, and dj-culture. Their shows resonate with the cities where they take place, using various media, video, sound, collages, words and set designs, which involve central squares and buildings.

Their productions often take their starting point in the company’s own hometown of Villeurbane, which in many ways shares its destiny with Elsinore. First by existing in the periphery of a larger “mothercity”, secondly by being an old industrial city, which has experienced a general crisis in connection with the dismantling of the industrial society. The company is inspired by an interest for the city as a political site, and the historical and political situation, which is reflected in any city’s central parts.

Hjemstavn.com’s final production by KompleXKapharnaüM will be a site-specific tale based on the material from the previous productions in Hjemstavn.com as well as new material, created by mutual inspiration between KXKM and selected Danish artists. The Danish artists will be invited to participate in a residency with the company in Villeurbane, France. Together with KXKM’s own field studies in Elsinore and the Oresound Region North, all the material will take form in one final artistic expression. Expect an explosion of a performance!

KXKM is currently one of the most remarkable street theatre companies in France.
